HOD’s Message
I feel elated to introduce you to Department of Applied Sciences, which is the foundation of Engineers. We hereby inculcate in students the basic principles & theories of pure sciences along with practical applicability .we also try to make them competent enough to comprehend effectively the various instructional activities during the course of their study. Applied Science department also strive to impart basic training in programming language, mathematical concepts & other fundamental subjects to exploit the potential of the present day opportunities in professional careers.

Chemistry lab is equipped with all the latest equipments viz. Muffle Furnace, Electric oven, Rectangular water bath, Hot plate, Redwood viscometer, Analytical Balance, Electronic balance, Distillation plant, Flash point Apparatus, Spectrophotometer, PH meter, Conductivity meter, Digital conductivity meter, LC Apparatus.

Manufacturing Lab
Manufacturing lab has following sub-sections namely

Each sub-section of the workshop has the ultra-modern machines & equipments such as Centre Lathe Machines, Milling Machines, Power Hacksaws, Surface Grinding Machines, Rolling & Bending Machines, Hearth Furnaces, Arc-Welding, Gas Welding & MIG-Welding Machines etc.

Engineering Drawing Lab
Drawing lab include the modern drawing tables, 3D cut-sectional models and other drafting aids.

Fundamentals of Computer Programming and IT Lab

Latest configuration computers (with Intel Pentium IV processors) & hi-tech. supporting hardware & peripherals are available in the lab for teaching computer & programming fundamentals.

COMPUTER SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING

HOD’s Message
Welcome to the Computer Science  Department. The Department is responsible for complete teaching of CSE subjects of Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar for B. Tech Degree. This Department was established in 2001. The mission of Computer Science Department is to impart high quality education and carry out leading-edge research in the discipline of Computer Science. There are about 400 students enrolled in these programs at present.
The department has good collaboration with some of the reputed industries. The experts from the industry are invited as visiting faculty as well as for delivering lectures on specialized topics. Many student projects at final year level are also carried out in association with the industries.
Apart from imparting technical education, emphasis is laid on extracurricular activities such as seminars/ workshops/ conferences to prepare students for highly competitive job environment. A state of art, fully air conditioned computer center has been established.

There are total three hundred and fifty computers with Pentium 4 configuration with speed in Giga Hertz. The computers have Microsoft Windows 2k/XP as well as Linux with dual boot option on top of Intel Pentium IV processors & and related high technology peripherals such as scanners, printers, combo-drives and all other multimedia aids. All the labs are having on-line U.P.S. Backup and are Fully Air Conditioned. We have the best of the expert to manage them. Servers are available in the server room, which are used as SMTP mail server, database server and general purpose use. The entire computer labs are connected by a high-speed (10/100/1000 Mbps) switched Ethernet network. Institution has 4 MBPS speed dedicated internet connectivity and is accessible for 24 hours. The whole campus is networked with Wi-Fi technology.
In addition to this, there is a centralized computer centre in the institute for additional learning, project work and research.

Students’ Section:
“Road Runners(is one of the fastest supercomputer) club” has been established by the students of Computer Sc. & Engg.. The main aim of the club is to improve the personal skills for a better personality & Technical Skills for a better carrier. This club provides a common platform to all the batches of Computer Sc. &  Engineering, various events including literary cultural and technical improve their personality to professional level.

Electronics and Communication Engineering

The Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering, Guru Gobind Singh College of Engineering & Technology, Talwandi Sabo, is imparting high quality education to the budding engineers with the support of well qualified & experienced faculty. We are living in an age of information & Technology. Electronics is the foundation of Information and Computer Age. The giant strides that we have made in the areas of communications and computers are possible only because of the great successes that we have achieved in the field of Electronics. It is sometimes unbelievable, how many electronic gadgets we are carrying these days with us like Digital Wrist Watch, Calculator, Cell-Phone and Digital Diary etc.
Electronics & Communication Engineering Department, understands the importance of preparing engineering students in this competitive world. To enhance student’s conceptual theoretical and practical understanding the ECE Department focuses on the following objectives:

Mechanical Engineers’. The course curriculum as designed by P.T.U. is being covered in the department, which meets the global standards. Our mechanical engineering departmental team is highly qualified, experienced and dedicated towards making the future of the Nation. We are empowering the youth with the latest technology to make them face the rapidly changing global market challenges.
A well-established sound technical platform is provided to the students to develop creative approaches to the practical problems by conducting different experiments in the concerned laboratories. Expert lectures are being conducted regularly by eminent personalities to keep them updated with the latest scenario of global needs.

 Department of Information Technology   was established in the year 2001.
 The intake of students in IT is 60..  There has been a rapid growth in the
 infrastructure of the department since 2001. Today department can boast
of having one of the best computing facility in the region. The department
has produced quality IT professionals. Department feels  proud of its
alumni employed in Public, Private and Educational sectors bringing good
 name to their Institution.
The faculty of Information Technology Department is working with a sense of responsibility and dedication to excel and achieve success in this era of Information technology. The department of IT offers a comprehensive curriculum from introductory level courses to graduate seminars and projects focusing on critical research areas. Students find a unique set of opportunities available to study for the B.Tech programs. Apart from imparting conventional technical education and rich learning environment, emphasis is laid on co-curricular activities such as conferences, seminars, workshops, debates and quizzes to prepare students for highly competitive job market. The objective of the department is to provide knowledge of modern computing systems as well as sound theoretical background to meet evolving needs of students.
